HOWDY YALL!

So Its been 2 weeks since my move to Dallas, TX and I'm just starting to feel settled in. Its taken me a few days to take in all these new changes in my life, but its definitely exciting and I'm liking Texas so far.

One thing I'm still having trouble with, like any other person new to a city, is finding my way around town. I spent most of last week getting lost around the city trying to find something as simple as milk. It seems like every other street here is a one-way street, so if you miss your turn you have to take a little trip around town to find your way back. Not very fun, but I found a lot of interesting places (I didn't mean to find) that way.

One of the things that really surprised me was the weather. Its frikin cold here! Last Thursday Dallas had a record 12.5 inches of snow! I didn't even know it snowed in Texas, so you could imagine my surprise when I opened my bedroom window and saw this...

I'm from LA where we've never even herd of snow so every time I see it it amazes me. Walking around and seeing everything covered in a blanket of white can look so beautiful, but not so much when you have to scoop it off your windshield and drive in it.

Work at Reel FX is going great. The people at the studio are so cool and a lot of fun to work with. I'm having a blast and learning so much from them. Since I started I've gotten assigned 3 shots on one of their latest projects and last Thursday I finaled my first.

"Snowy Reel FX" (2/11/2010)

"Clear Reel FX" (2/9/2010)

Ive had a lot of fun so far and my adventures are only beginning.

Stay tuned for more.

NEW JOB!

So on January 13, 2010 at 10:59am I got the call... I'm going to REEL FX!!!

That's right! I'm headed to "Big D." Dallas, Texas to join the awesome team of super talented artists over at Reel FX Creative Studios. I'm SUPER excited! I'll be working there (as an animator) for at least 3 months (maybe longer) and I'm scheduled to start on my 22nd birthday (February 1st). What better day huh? and what a birthday present!

This is going to be a great experience and I'm going to learn so much from it. Cant wait!

8TH PLACE!

Last month I submitted my first entry into the 11 Second Club. For those of you that don't know, the 11 Second Club is a monthly character animation competition open to all animators across the world. Animators have one month to animate a character (or multiple characters sometimes) speaking a line of dialogue provided by the 11 Second Club. Winner gets their work critiqued by a professional animator.

The club really seems to be growing in popularity as the number in entries keeps getting bigger and bigger each month. Last month had a record-setting 246 entries! and I got 8th place! Check out my entry here:

The dialogue clip is from a TV show called "Glee".

MY FIRST POST

Hey guys!

So I finally decided to make a blog. I felt like I needed a place to share my art, animation, progress and a little bit of my life as well so I thought this would be a good place to do it.

To start it off, here is my latest character animation reel...

To give proper credit, I did not animate Buck and the moth in shots 5 and 7. Everything else was animated by me.
